FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • WHAT TYPE OF PLANES WILL I FLY?

    • We train with Piper Cherokee Warriors

  • DO YOU OFFER DISCOVERY FLIGHTS?

    • Yes. We offer a ~1 hour introductory flight.

    • Discovery Flights are a great idea for anyone who wants to see if aviation is something they would like to pursue and to see if we are a good fit for each other.

    • You will get to fly the plane!

    • Discovery Flights are charged at our normal rate. Headsets are included complimentary

  • HOW CAN I SCHEDULE A DISCOVERY FLIGHT?

    • Call us to get started at (716) 542-4607. We will give your information to the next available instructor and they will reach out to schedule your flight.

  • HOW MUCH DOES FLIGHT INSTRUCTION COST?

    • Rental rates are as follows

      • $231 per hour​

        • $169 for the plane​ + $2 fuel surcharge

        • $60 for the flight instructor

        • Prices are completely transparent. We do not charge extra for membership. 

    • Estimated $13,000 - $17,000 Total for Private Pilot's License​

      • This is a conservative estimate including all costs you will encounter (including but not limited to 60-80 hours of flight time, instructor, ground school, head set, books, examination fees, etc.)

    • All costs are pay as you go​

  • DO YOU OFFER FINANCING?

    • We do not offer in house financing, but we will work with your bank to accept a Personal Loan

  • DO YOU ACCEPT THE GI BILL?

    • We regret that we cannot accept the GI Bill at our flight school. The GI Bill can only be accepted at Part 141 Flight Schools. You can search for one here. 

  • WHAT TYPE OF FLIGHT SCHOOL IS CLEAR AIR AVIATION?

    • We are a Part 61 Flight School, which means we tailor your syllabi to you.

  • HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO GET MY PRIVATE?

    • There is a 40 hour minimum of flight hours to receive your Private Pilot's License (PPL), but the national average is 60-80. So, it depends upon how often you fly. You can fly as little or as much as you desire. The more often you fly, the faster you will get your PPL. We recommend training at least once per week.

    • 1-2 Years

      • If your schedule only allows flying once per week, you could get your PPL in about 1-2 years.​

    • 6 Months

      • If you fly three times per week, you could get your PPL in about 6 months.

    • 3 Months

      • If you fly every day on an accelerated track, you could get your PPL in about 3 months.

  • I HAVE A BUSY SCHEDULE. WILL THIS BE AN ISSUE?​​

    • Since our instructors have access to our trainers 24/7 so we can work with your scheduling needs. 

  • DO YOU ACCEPT INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS?​​

    • We regret that we cannot accept students without a United States Passport and/or United States Birth Certificate & Government Issued Photo Identification. If you do not, we wish you the best on your quest for a flight school that fits your needs!

  • ARE YOU OPEN YEAR ROUND?​​

    • ​Yes. Your instructor will help you cancel flights on days with poor flying conditions such as high wind or low clouds, but we are open year round!
